method

Oodidoo has been creating the method, which is based on the interaction of image making and the sound. The musician of the group (Vuori) has been teaching the visual artists (Kortelainen and Rajala) a meditative singing, which opens the body consciousness. In that method artists are observing how the resonation of the singing varies in their body and at the same time they paint the movement of the resonation on different surfaces.

This sound-body-image -method was found at the spring 2017, when visual artists started working with the series of monoprints Diarium Invisii – The Diary of the Invisible.

Every collective working period has generated new elements to the method.  At the moment there is three variations of the basic sound-body-image -method:

  1. The visual artists are singing a simple one vowel song as painting together their monotype plates.

  2. The musician evokes the mode of the song (a medieval musical scale). The musician works in the interactive creative moment with the visual artists and the two-sided image is painted on the transparent surface.

  3. The visual artists are singing a simple one vowel song as painting together their monotype plates. Later the group assembles by the finished monoprints. The creation continues as the group creates a more elaborate melody for the image or the series of images.
